Rugby Union / Rugby League
The following pitch dimensions have been specified by the RFU and the RFL, plese see the respective governing bodies website for further information.
Rubgy Union
The RFU state that the pitch dimensions shown should not be exceeded, where as, the 5m safety margin is a minimum requirement where practicable. The maximum size for a Senior Rugby Union Pitch is 100m x 70m, with an In-Goal area of up 22m, in reality the In-Goal Area is unlikely to be more than 10m.

Rugby League
The RFL state that senior Rugby League pitches should be dimensioned as closely as possible to their specification, which shows the optimum pitch size as 100m x 68m with a 3m safety margin, but gives a range of 6m - 11m for the In-Goal area.
